Jeffersonville, PA – (10/5/2011) – Chestnut Hill College placed two golfers in the top 20 of today's Raven Invitational, hosted by Rosemont College at Jeffersonville Golf Club. The Griffins totaled 376 team points and finished 8
th, while Elmira College won the event with 315 team points. Freshman
Blaise Straka (Croydon, PA) led the Griffins for the third straight match of his rookie campaign; he shot an 82 (+12) and finished 17
th.
With four golfers in the top 13, Elmira College was crowned champion of the Raven Invitational, senior Paul Wells (Toronto, Canada) led the Soaring Eagles with a round of 77 (+7). Rosemont College boasted the afternoon's top performer in freshman Kris Keegan (Kingwood, TX), who shot a 74 (+4).
Straka was trailed by the usual host of Griffin seniors;
Nick Mull (Collingswood, NJ),
Mitch Doherty Jr. (Lowell, MA),
Kyle Thornley (East Windsor, NJ), and
Joe Reid (Kingsville, MD). Mull completed the course with 84 strokes. Doherty and Thornley tied for 42
nd with rounds of 105, while Reid shot a 120 and finished 44
th.
The golf team returns to action at the Ace Club on Tuesday, October 11, when join Philadelphia University for a 12:30 p.m. tee time.
