Women’s Tennis Topples Devils

Philadelphia, PA – (10/7/2011) – Chestnut Hill College continued to have success with their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule, as they defeated the University of the Sciences 9-0 this afternoon. The Griffins swept doubles competition, then took the top three singles matches by a score of 6-0, 6-1. The bottom three individual flights went just as well, bringing the Griffins to their fifth CACC victory.
 
Chestnut Hill College (10-1, 5-0) got off to a strong start with a perfect round of doubles play. Junior Nastia Shcherbakova (Minsk, Belarus) and sophomore Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, OH) took number one doubles 8-3, while junior Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) and freshman Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, PA) won number two doubles 8-1. Junior Danielle Knott (Mt. Vernon, NY) and freshman Alexis Puhl (Philadelphia, PA) were just as successful at number three doubles with an 8-2 win.
 
Junior Regina Doherty (Southampton, PA) joined in the effort by taking number six singles 6-1, 6-2. Shcherbakova, Dennis, Parapouras, Oechsle, and Knott all won individually as well propelling the Griffins to victory.   
 
The women's tennis team travels to Post University on Saturday, October 8, for their next CACC match; opening serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
