New Haven, CT – (10/31/2011) – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Championship Tournament will begin Tuesday, November 1, on campus sites of the higher seeds. With the #5 seed, the Chestnut Hill College women's soccer team returns to the CACC postseason for the third consecutive season and will travel to Georgian Court University for this year's Opening Round contest against Lions. All Opening Round contests are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. starts.
In their first season under Head Coach
Sandy Dickson, the Chestnut Hill College (9-9, 7-5) women's soccer team battled to a fifth place standing in the CACC with a 7-5 league mark. The Griffins finished the season at 9-9 overall. Dickson directed the Griffins through a roller-coaster season which concluded with a season finale against her old team, Bloomsburg University. A 1-0 loss to the Huskies left the Griffins at .500 for the season. Prior to that, the Griffins closed their CACC schedule with back-to-back conference road wins against at Concordia College (NY) on Sunday, October 23, and at Wilmington University on Tuesday, October 25.
Senior forward
Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) was the team's statistical leader and offered another remarkable season with a league-leading 18 goals and 40 total points. She recorded ten multi-point performances including three hat tricks against conference opponents; Bloomfield College on Saturday, September 17, and in the back-to-back road wins against the Clippers and the Wildcats. Carly DiGiovanni (Seaville, NJ) was second on the team in points with 17; she contributed eight goals and one assist. Sophomore midfielder
Steph Litty (Marlton, NJ) was the third Griffin to record double-digit points, she totaled ten points with two goals and six assists.
