Philadelphia, PA – (4/6/2011) – The women's tennis team welcomed Cheyney University to campus for a match this afternoon. Chestnut Hill College wasted little time before dispatching the Wolves with a 9-0 shutout. The Griffins surrendered only two volleys to the Wolves, both coming at number one singles.

Chestnut Hill College (12-9) carried a 3-0 lead into singles action after sweeping doubles play without a wasted serve. Sophomores Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) and Danielle Knott (Mt. Vernon, NY) won number one doubles 8-0 while sisters, senior Sarah Doherty (Southampton, PA) and sophomore Regina Doherty (Southampton), were victorious at number two doubles 8-0. The Griffins took number three doubles by default.

Singles went similarly. Sophomore Nastia Shcherbakova (Minsk, Belarus) gave Cheyney University (0-7) their only air in the top individual match, winning 6-2, 6-0 over senior Squatia Knight (Philadelphia, PA). The Griffins won two through five singles in shutout fashion, 6-0, 6-0, while taking number six singles by default.
