Philadelphia, PA- (9/10/11)- The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team continued their winning ways as they defeated NYIT 7-2 and Caldwell 8-1 in a daytime double header. In the first match vs. NYIT, the Griffins fought hard and pulled out two of the three doubles matches heading into singles play. In singles, junior
Nastia Shcherbakova (Minsk, Belarus) overcame a first set loss but went on to win the match in tight third set match tiebreaker. Junior
Maria Parapouras (Melbourne, Australia) was down 5-2 in the first set and stormed all the way back to take the set 7-5. She continued to battle and pulled out the tough match in a third set match tiebreaker.
In the second match vs. conference opponent Caldwell College, the Griffins came right out of the gate taking two of the three doubles matches. Their strong play continued by sweeping all of the remaining singles match en route to their first conference win of the season. Freshman
Alexis Puhl (Philadelphia, PA / Girls HS) lost the first set but bounced back to win the match in three sets.
Chestnut Hill is now 4-0 on the season and will travel to Philadelphia University on Monday, September 12 for 3:30 pm start.
