West Chester, PA – (9/10/2011) – In the last match of the day for the Chestnut Hill Griffins, they managed pull out a stunning victory against Lincoln University (PA) in straight sets. After a tough day of competition on Friday and early Saturday the Griffins came into the final match of the day motivated and driven to come away with nothing less than victory. What was even more impressive though is that eight out of the nine Griffins that stepped out on the floor recorded at least one kill. Determination and perseverance were flowing through their veins, and in the end the ousted the competition.
Leading the Griffins was junior setter
Courtney Gallo (Wilmington, DE) who recorded six aces, one kill, and 10 assists. Gallo provided the Griffins with a spark of energy as they went through the match. Following right behind Gallo was sophomore outside hitter
Sarah Mattaliano (Coral Springs, FL) who recorded five aces, and three kills. While Mattaliano and Gallo led the offense for the Griffins it was junior libero
Liz DiGregorio(Conshohocken, PA) who took the defensive role and recorded 11 digs in the match for the Griffins. The Griffins improve their record to 4-5 and with the intensity they ended the tournament with is any indication of how the rest of the season will go, the Griffins are on track to do some damage in the conference.
The women's volleyball team travels to Cheyney, PA on Tuesday night to face The Cheyney University of Pennsylvania at 7:00 P.M.
