Box Score Philadelphia, PA – (1/24/2012) – After a poor shooting performance in the opening period (30.4%, 7-for-23), Chestnut Hill College went to work in the second half, scoring 32 of their 52 second-half points in the paint en route to a 72-57 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Dominican College. Senior forward Dan Comas (Philadelphia, PA) and freshman center Seamus Radtke (Philadelphia, PA) combined for 20 points and ten rebounds in the closing frame; Comas led the Griffins with 16 point and eight rebounds.

Chestnut Hill College (13-7, 6-2) held Dominican College (9-7, 2-6) to 21 points in the first half, unfortunately, the Griffins poor shooting limited them to only 20 points in the period. Junior guard Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) led the Chargers to their narrow halftime advantage, 21-20, with seven points, two rebounds, and two steals, but following intermission his defense failed to uphold their end of the deal. The Griffins took the lead for good with 16:31 still to play as a layup from junior guard Mark DiRugeris Jr. (Woodbury, NJ) landed them a 29-28 edge and triggered a 23-14 run. The streak left the Griffins up ten, 52-42, with 8:47 left on the clock and the deficit would reach 16, 66-50, on a DiRugeris three-pointer with 3:49 to go. Despite a brief Charger run, spirited by freshman guard A.J. Burton (New Rochelle, NY), the Griffins coasted to the final buzzer.

Porter finished with 16 points, four rebounds, and two steals as the leading performer for the Chargers. Burton offered 11 points and three steals while junior forward Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY) recorded ten points and seven rebounds.

Comas totaled 12 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and steal in the second half, but his effort was supported by Radtke and the unrelenting play of sophomore guard Jakeem Bogans (Philadelphia, PA). Radtke finished with his second double-digit scoring performance of the season, 12 points, while also grabbing seven rebounds, and providing four assists. Bogans contributed 12 points, all in the second half, and he also hustled to eight rebounds. As the fourth Griffin in double figures, freshman guard Luke Dickson (Pitman, NJ) contributed 11 points in addition to his four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

The men's basketball team continues their CACC schedule with a 3:00 p.m. contest at Felician College on January 28.
