Box Score Brookville, N.Y. – (12/29/2012) – Early on, Chestnut Hill College had to turn to the bench to keep pace with C.W. Post University, but the Pioneers turned a 35-25 halftime advantage into a 16-point, 91-75, victory on the scoring of senior guard Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) and the shoulders of a commendable 20-point, 20-rebound effort from junior forward Vaughn Allen (Mount Vernon, N.Y.). In reserve, junior guard Jakeem Bogans (Philadelphia, Pa.) and sophomore guard Luke Dickson (Pitman, N.J.) led the Griffins with 18 and 17 points, respectively.

C.W. Post University (5-3) frustrated Chestnut Hill College (5-7) at the start of the affair, as the Griffins quickly looked to their bench for a compliment to the early effort of sophomore center Seamus Radtke (Philadelphia, Pa.). With 11:00 minutes remaining in the first half, the Pioneer lead remained at one, 14-13, but that's when Allen and Carberry ignited the home team. The Pioneers first-half advantage maxed at 12, 25-13, on a Carberry three-pointer at 8:52, but after a couple of Dickson threes the margin settled at ten points, 35-25, as the teams broke for the locker rooms. After intermission, the Pioneers got another spark from junior guard JaMario Clayton (Durham, N.C.), who scored seven points in the period's first three minutes (17:08). Following that rush, the enduring efforts of Carberry and Allen ballooned the Pioneer lead to as many as 31 points, 63-32, by 13:46, which left the Griffin bench to close the gap to 16 points, 91-75, by game's end.

Carberry's 29 points led all participants and shared the Pioneer spotlight with Allen's diligent paint play. Clayton scored nine of his 12 points in the second half and senior guard Billy Butler (Elmont, N.Y.) was the Pioneers playmaker with six assists and three steals.

Bogans and Dickson combined to shoot 11-of-19 (57.9%) from the field, including 6-of-8 (75.0%) from three-point range. They accounted for 35 of the Griffins 49 bench points. From the starting unit, Radtke finished with nine points and seven rebounds while senior guard Mark DiRugeris Jr. (Woodbury, N.J.) offered ten points and four assists.

The men's basketball team returns home to host Dowling College in a 6:00 p.m. contest on Thursday, January 3.
