Galloway, NJ – (3/23/2012) – Chestnut Hill College finished fourth of four teams at the Richard Stockton Tri-Match this afternoon. The Griffins combined for 373 team strokes, led by a round of 82 (+11) from freshman
Blaise Straka (Croydon, PA).
Richard Stockton College claimed first place with a team score of 337. Rutgers-Camden's A and B teams finished second, 337 points, and third, 341 points, respectively. Senior Andrew Pierson (Washington Township, NJ) was the overall winner with a round of 78 (+7), but it was not enough to catch the Ospreys, who were led by a round of 81 (+10) from Connor Gillespie.
Senior
Mitch Doherty Jr. (Lowell, MA) was ten strokes behind Straka at the Seaview Bay Course. Doherty finished the 6,400-yeard course in 92 (+21) strokes. Fellow seniors,
Nick Mull (Collingswood, NJ) and
Gavin Reid (Dundee, Scotland) completed the course with scores of 97 (+26) and 102 (+31), respectively, while freshman
Dave King (Bensalem, PA) trailed Reid by only a stroke with a 103 (+32).
The golf team competes next at the Ace Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, when they meet Philadelphia University for a 12:00 p.m. tee-time on Monday, March 26.
