Westminster, MD – (4/14/2012) – The Chestnut Hill College golf team concluded their 2011-2012 season today at the McDaniel College Spring Shootout. The Griffins finished seventh out of the eight participating institutions, with freshman
Blaise Straka (Corydon, PA) leading the way with a round of 81 (+10).
The afternoon's best score was turned in by Dickinson College's junior Arthur Worthington (Owings Mills, MD), who shot two over par, 73 (+2), but with three of the top six scores Bridgewater University won the event by nine strokes, 304 (+20). Straka's 81 was good enough to tie him for 15
th overall. Chestnut Hill College was also represented on the 6,100-yard course by another freshman,
Pat Steger (La Plata, MD), and three seniors,
Nick Mull (Collingswood, NJ),
Mitch Doherty Jr. (Lowell, MA) and
Joe Reid (Kingsville, MD). Mull shot an 88 to tie for 31
st place, Doherty scored a 90 to tie for 38
th, Steger tied for 43
rd with a 95. Reid finished the round in 113 strokes and to come in 46
th.
The Chestnut Hill College Department of Athletics will recognize the senior Griffin golfers; Mull, Doherty,
Joe Reid, and
Gavin Reid (Dundee, Scotland) during a luncheon at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club on Wednesday, April 18.
