Kaelyn Pizarro (Berlin, N.J.) continue to be a lethal combination for Chestnut Hill College, as the Griffins earned their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win on Victory Field #1, 3-0. They teamed on the Griffins first goal and each scored in the second half as well to ensure the win.
Chestnut Hill College (4-6, 4-2) held an 11-4 shot advantage and a 4-0 corner kick lead over Bloomfield College (2-6, 1-5); by pressuring the ball early the Griffins were able to break the Deacon defenses on a centering pass by DiGiovanni. Pizarro drove the ball to the back of the net to give the Griffins the early lead at 13:10, 1-0. The Griffins added to their lead in the second half, when a drive by senior forward
Alyssa Radetich (Sewell, N.J.) drew the Deacon goalkeeper out net and opened the opportunity for DiGiovanni to score from center pitch, 2-0 (63:57). Pizarro would break away in the 81
st minute (80:26) to provide another second-half insurance goal for the Griffins, 3-0.
Sophomore midfielder Dani Andreas (Jackson, N.J.) led the Deacon offense with six shots, while in goal junior Sashagay Spence (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) and freshman Jaclyn Kosh (Brick, N.J.) both saw time in net. Spence earned the loss and made six saves, Kosh made two.
Pizarro headlined the Griffin pressure, leading all participants with seven shots in her first multi-goal game of the season. Senior goalkeeper
Jessica Veazey (Middletown, Del.) earned her first shutout of the season with a couple points blank saves. She made seven in the contest.
The women's soccer team breaks from CACC schedule to visit Dowling College for a 4:00 p.m. contest on Tuesday, October 2.
