Griffins Dig Pink and Down Devils For Third CACC Win

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/2/2013) – Hosting the University of the Sciences (USciences) on their Side-Out Foundation Dig Pink Night, Chestnut Hill College concluded their five-match home stand and delivered their third Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) triumph of the season in front of the home crowd with tonight's a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-21) victory over the Devils.
 
Chestnut Hill College (5-10, 3-3) proved to be the superior side from the opening serve as the Griffins sprinted out to a 9-5 advantage before expanding their lead to a late 24-18 upper hand and an eventual 25-21 victory. Freshman outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) was the Griffins early target with five kills in the opening set. USciences (4-12, 0-4) attempted to slow the Griffins in the second set, but the Devils only managed to delay the Griffins to a 25-23 win as freshman setter Emily Drew (Ringoes, N.J.) fed senior outside hitter Alexandra DePalma (Shillington, Pa.) for nine kills in the frame. She killed four more balls in the third set where the Griffins earned victory with a 25-21 win.
 
Junior outside hitter Amanda DeAngelo (Vestal, N.Y.) led the Devils with 12 kills on a .250 (12L-4E-32TA) hitting percentage. She completed her double-double with 11 digs. Junior setter Kaileen Bevenour (Sicklerville, N.J.) offered 32 assists while sophomore libero Nicole Rivera (Pittsford, N.Y.) recorded a team-high 17 digs.
 
DePalma finished the evening with a team-high 15 kills. She was supplied by Drew, who totaled 43 assists in the match, and complimented by McBride, junior right side Kaitlyn Schock (Allentown, Pa.) and sophomore middle hitter Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.). McBride and Schock issued nine kills while Biro recorded eight kills. Freshman libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) led three Griffins in double-digit digs with 20 in the affair.
 
The women's volleyball team continues their CACC schedule on Saturday, October 5, when they visit Felician College for a 1:00 p.m. match.
