The CACC rivals went point-for-point to open the evening, 6-6, with Georgian Court University (14-11, 12-3) breaking away for a 16-10 advantage midway through the set. Following a Chestnut Hill College (7-20, 5-10) timeout the Lions remained in control of the frame until their 25-15 win, 1-0. The Lions were not able to handle the Griffins as well in the second or third sets as the home team delayed their second point to a 25-23 win, 2-0, before taking the third set by a 27-25 final, 2-1. The Griffins hoped to keep on the Lions heels in the fourth set, but a 5-1 opening run forced a home timeout and gave the visitors the edge they needed to survive for a 25-17 win and the 3-1 match victory.
