Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (11/30/2013) – With the hot hand, Shippensburg University got the early lead and the final edge in today's non-conference contest that left Chestnut Hill College on the short end of a 70-64 final. Graduate guard Taylor Trevisan (West Chester, Pa.) helped the Griffins get back in the contest before halftime, but after intermission it was the aggressive play of senior guard Jakeem Bogans (Philadelphia, Pa.) that allowed them to briefly hold the lead before their final demise.

Shippensburg University (1-4) welcomed contributions from a variety of sources but it was the consistent play of sophomore Joe Lococo (Easton, Pa.) that afforded them their 35-31 halftime advantage. Chestnut Hill College (1-6) answered the Raiders early shooting streak behind the versatile play of Trevisan, who recorded 12 of his 13 points in the opening frame. After intermission, Bogans injected life into the Griffins as he attacked the basket with every dribble and eventually inspired his teammates to capture a 44-43 lead with 15:52 remaining in the game. The Griffins held their advantage for a four minute stretch, briefly relinquishing the lead at 9:53, 47-46, before Lococo appeared again. He converted a three-point play to tie the contest at the seven-minute mark, 52-52 (7:00), and sunk a traditional trifecta to give the visitors a 55-52 lead heading to the final five minutes (4:59). Unfortunately, the Griffins were unable to muster another challenge as they trailed the Raiders the rest of the way in a six-point defeat, 70-64.

Lococo led all participants with 27 points on 5-of-9 (55.6%) shooting, 3-of-3 (100.0%) from long range, and a 14-of-16 (87.5%) free throw effort. He also recorded four assists, two blocks, and three steals while getting 13 points in a supporting performance from fellow sophomore guard Jay Hardy (Philadelphia, Pa.).

An equally distributed offensive effort left Trevisan as the Griffins lead scorer with his 13-point offering. Bogans finished with nine points and a steal while additional valuable contributions came from junior center Seamus Radtke (Philadelphia, Pa.); eight points, five rebounds, a block, and an assist, and junior guard Christian Walck (Lancaster, Pa.); seven points, two rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

The men's basketball team returns to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in their next contest; an 8:00 p.m. contest on Wednesday, December 4.
