Madison McBride (Long Beach, Ca.) led Griffin effort; McBride recording her first double-double with a team-high 13 kills and 16 digs.
In the first set, Chestnut Hill College (0-4, 0-1) excited the home crowd with a 12-5 lead that forced Wilmington University (1-3, 1-0) into an unexpected timeout. Following the break, the Wildcats picked up their play, forcing a Griffin timeout at 15-13 and grabbing the lead at 17-16. They led until 20-19, but the Griffins would not go down without a fight and won the set 25-22 on the serve of junior setter
Alyssa Tamsing (Ventura, Calif.) and a united defensive front. Playing from behind, the determined Wildcats proved to the too much for the Griffins in the second set, 25-12, and carrying their energy into the third, 25-17, and fourth sets, 25-17,to end the match on a 3-1 final.
Outside hitters, freshman Allison Briley (Monroeville, Pa.) and sophomore Kaitlin DiGiacinto (Glen Burnie, Md.) led the Wildcat offense with 13 and ten kills, respectively. DiGiacinto also collected 15 digs. Setters, sophomore Alex Siolos (East Moriches, N.Y.) and junior Kasey Couch (Woodbine, Md.) combined for 37 assists while Siolos also collected 12 digs. Sophomore libero Shelby Henderson (Wilmington, Del.) recorded 14 digs.
DePalma totaled 12 kills and nine digs for the Griffins. She and McBride were fueled by Tamsing, who recorded a game-high 37 assists and also collected nine digs in a versatile performance. Freshman libero
Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) collected a game-high 27 digs, while senior defense specialist
Sarah Mattaliano (Coral Springs, Fl.) and McBride each earned 16 digs apiece.
The women's volleyball team breaks from their CACC schedule for the West Chester University Tournament on Friday September 13. The Griffins will open play with a 3:00 p.m. match against Glenville State College, before facing Assumption College in a 5:00 p.m. match.
