10/7/2014 7:20:00 PM

Philadelphia, Pa. – (10/7/2014) – Chestnut Hill College captured a much-needed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win with today's 6-3 league victory at Philadelphia University. Improving to 5-1 in the CACC, the Griffins expanded a 2-1 doubles lead with consecutive wins at number six, five, and one singles.

Chestnut Hill College (5-2, 5-1) played from a position of power after earning the match's first two points with identical 8-2 wins at number one and number two doubles, 2-0. Philadelphia University (10-3, 4-3) gave themselves a good opportunity to upset the Griffins with an 8-6 win at number three doubles, 2-1.

But it was not enough to derail the Griffins, who quickly turned the tables with wins at number six, five, and one singles. Freshman Hannah Hills (Maize, Kan.) scored the first of those points with her 6-0, 6-1, win in the sixth flight, 3-1. Junior Hayley Craskey (Aston, Pa.) was next with her 6-3, 6-0 win at number five singles, 4-1. Then senior Charlotte Dawson (Odessa, Texas) took the top singles flight 6-2, 6-0, clinching victory with the Griffins fifth point of the afternoon, 5-1. Junior Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) won her individual match by a final of 6-1, 6-3, in between the Lady Rams only singles successes at number three, 6-2, 6-0, and number four singles, 6-2, 7-5.

The women's tennis team will break from their CACC schedule to join the Griffin men in hosting West Chester University for a 12:00 p.m. dual match on Friday, October 10.
