Box Score | Bronxville, N.Y. - (10/13/2015) – Less than 24 hours removed from an important triumph over Goldey-Beacom College, the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team sought a bigger prize this afternoon, taking on six-time defending champion Concordia College (NY) in a battle of the league's traditional powerhouses. The Clippers stayed atop the league totem pole, taking all three doubles matches on the way to a 7-2 victory that locked up yet another top seed in next weekend's CACC Championship Tournament. The Griffins suffered their first loss of the fall.

In a matchup of programs that finished the 2014-2015 campaign ranked among the top 50 teams in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II, Concordia College (7-0, 6-0) got off to a fast start with an 8-3 decision at third doubles, followed by identical 8-3 victories on the first and second courts. That left Chestnut Hill College (7-1, 5-1) a big hole to dig out of, and despite some singles success, the Scarlet and Gold never made up the ground.

Sophomore Lara Scholtze (Bod Homburg, Germany) continued her strong play with a 6-3, 6-1 win at number two singles, and senior Axé Owens (Trenton, N.J.) backed her up with a 6-4, 6-4 score at number four. Unfortunately, that was as good as it got for the Griffins, who were defeated in straight sets at first, third, fifth, and sixth singles.

Despite the setback, Chestnut Hill College can still clinch the second seed in the conference championships with a victory against Post University (4-1 CACC) on Friday, October 16, at 3:00 p.m.
