Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/16/2015) – Chestnut Hill College welcomed Philadelphia University to campus this afternoon for its first home match since mid-October, 2014. The Griffins made use of the home court advantage as they first swept doubles play before defeating the Lady Rams as individuals in a 9-0 shutout.

Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) improved her place on the on the Griffins all-time wins list as she combined with junior
Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.) to earn the first point for Chestnut Hill College (16-7) at number three doubles. Sophomore
Laure-Anne Josso (Vannes, France) and senior
Charlotte Dawson (Odessa, Texas) combined for the Griffins next doubles win as they secured the point at number one singles with an 8-1 triumph. Progressively, number two doubles took just a bit longer as junior
Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) and freshman
Lara Scholtze (Bod Hamburg, Germany) teamed for an 8-2 win.
Singles play came just as easy for the Griffins, who were only forced into a third set at number four singles where Williams-Mulesa overcame in a 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 score. Josso was finished first with a 6-1, 6-2 win at number one singles. Dawson was next with her 6-0, 6-1 win at number two singles. Oechsle then ended the fifth flight on a 6-2, 6-1 final before the Griffins final three points of the evening came respectively at number three (6-3, 6-3), number six (6-2, 6-1), and number four singles (6-3, 4-6, 10-7).
The women's tennis teams concludes their 2014-2015 regular season schedule on Tuesday, April 21, when they host Villanova University for a 3:00 p.m. Senior Day match.
