Box Score Millersville, Pa. - (9/15/2015) – Initial play was tight at Millersville University as Chestnut Hill College surrendered an early opening-set lead to the Marauders before a 7-7 stalemate broke in the home team's favor on a pair of aces that sparked them for a 25-18 set-win. The Marauders carried the momentum from there, sealing the match-victory with identical 25-11 wins in the second and third sets, 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-11).
Chestnut Hill College (0-9) owned a 5-2 lead early in the first set, forcing Millersville University (7-0) into a series of early errors with an aggressive defensive effort. The Marauders recovered, funneling their offense through sophomore middle hitter Kelsi Ceriani (Dillsburg, Pa.), who scored three kills in a 5-2 rally that brought all things even at 7-7. Sophomore outside hitter Erin Harman (Hanover, Pa.) then landed two aces to spark the Marauders on an 8-5 run that forced a Griffin timeout at 15-12. Unfortunately, the break did not have its desired effect as Millersville University continued to control play behind the combined play of Ceriani and earn the point on an ace from freshman setter Grace Dawson (Collegeville, Pa.), 25-18.
The match went downhill from there for Chestnut Hill College as Millersville University gave the Griffins little chance in the second and third sets. They hit .345 (14K-4E-29TA) in the second set with Harman taking over for Ceriani as the primary target. In the third set it was four aces and three team blocks that capitalized on seven Griffin hitting errors and three services errors.
