Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (9/23/2015) – The Chestnut Hill College women's soccer team fell into an early hole and never managed to dig out of it against visiting Georgian Court University this afternoon. The Lions scored just 2:44 into the contest and held on from there to secure a 1-0 triumph and remain perfect in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
Georgian Court University (5-1, 3-0) jumped right on top of Chestnut Hill College (3-4, 1-3) when sophomore forward Lizzy Kroon (Bayville, N.J.) picked her way down the left flank and into the box and left a pass for trailing junior midfielder Taylor Bramley (Sparta, N.J.), who took aim and guided a well-placed shot past a diving
Kayla Reno (Pasadena, Md.) and into the left corner of the net for a lightning-quick strike and a 1-0 edge.
Coming off three consecutive shutouts, the Lions went to work maintaining their slight upper hand. The Griffins notched four corner kicks, but managed only five shots, three of which were parried easily by Georgian Court University senior Casey O'Connor (Toms River, N.J.). Pushing hard for an equalizer, the home side was held without a shot after senior midfielder
Danielle Spinuzza (Williamstown, N.J.) sent a volley just over the bar at the 65:34 mark, and the Lions walked away with their fifth straight victory.
Kroon supplied a third of the Lions' 15 shots, while Bramley recorded three. O'Connor (5-1), the conference leader in save percentage (.917) and goals against average (0.33), finished with three saves to earn her fourth consecutive clean sheet. Georgian Court University has conceded a mere two goals in 2015.
Spinuzza matched freshman midfielder
Marikate O'Toole (Philadelphia, Pa.) with two shots to spearhead the Chestnut Hill College attack. Reno collected six saves in defeat (3-4).
The Griffins will look to snap a three-game skid with a CACC contest at Felician College on Saturday, September 26. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
