Chestnut Hill College Drops Tough 5-4 Decision to USciences in CACC Finale

Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/15/2016) – In a hard-fought season finale, the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team pushed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe USciences to the limit, narrowly dropping a 5-4 decision at the CHC Tennis Courts this afternoon.
 
Chestnut Hill College (0-8, 0-7 CACC) opened the match strong, with senior Laure-Anne Josso (Vannes, France) and sophomore Daniela Siqueira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) earning a 8-5 victory over USciences (10-4, 4-3 CACC) duo of sophomore Julia James (Muncy, Pa.) and freshman Karla Miletic (Zadar, Croatia) at the second pairing. The Devils would strike back, taking the final two doubles points to enter singles play with a 2-1 edge.
 
The Griffins knotted the match at 2-2, following Siqueira's 6-2, 6-1 triumph over freshman Gabrielle Soriano (Oreland, Pa.) at the fifth singles flight. The Devils would take the next two points, however, with sophomore Jillyan Serrano (Columbus, N.J.) topping freshman Nicole Yang (Blue Bell, Pa.) (6-0, 6-0) at No. 6 singles, while Miletic bested Josso at the top flight, 6-4, 6-4.
 
The Scarlet and Gold earned their third point of the match at the fourth pairing, when sophomore Julia Bellon (Indaiatuba, Brazil) topped James (2-6, 6-3, 7-5). The visitors would clinch the victory at the third flight, when sophomore Elkanah Linder (Townshend, Vt.) topped sophomore Hannah Murphy (Christchurch, England) (6-1, 4-6, 6-0). The final point of the day was earned by the Griffins, as senior Louise Charley (St. Jean de Luz, France) battled past sophomore Abbygail Gamarnik (Jamison, Pa.) (6-4, 5-7, 6-3).
 
With the loss the Griffins see their 2016 campaign come to a close.
