Box Score Orangeburg, N.Y. – (10/22/2016) – Building on their 3-0, Friday-night victory over Nyack College, the Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team departed from Dominican College this evening with another Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win in hand. The Griffins dispatched the Lady Chargers in three sets as well, 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-17), thanks to another balanced effort. Senior outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) headlined the Scarlet and Gold offense with 10 kills while four Griffins finished with seven digs or more.

Chestnut Hill College (10-11, 8-4) separated from Dominican College (4-18, 3-10) late in the opening set. It took back-to-back kills from freshman outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Indianapolis, Ind.) and junior right side Samantha Gelfan (Chandler, Ariz.) to force a Lady Charger timeout with a 20-18 advantage. After the break, senior middle hitter Emily Koehler (Bath, Pa.) and McBride scored consecutive kills to boost the Griffin lead to 23-19. From there, a Lady Charger error and a Koehler kill was enough to seal the deal, 25-20.

The second set was not the battle that the first set was as the Scarlet and Gold owned an 11-4 edge, and maintained the seven-point advantage at 20-13, before closing out the frame on a 25-16 final. The third set played similar to its predecessor with Chestnut Hill College again owning an 11-4 lead that was maintained for an 18-11 advantage prior to the 25-17 match-clinching decision.

Sophomore outside hitter Alexa Williams (Los Angeles, Calif.) and senior setter Kera Dexter (Selah, Wash.) each score eight points for the home side. Williams with seven kills and two block assists and Dexter with five kills and four block assists. Dexter also supplied 17 assists, an ace, and six digs. Defensively, the Lady Chargers combined for 11 blocks and senior libero Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) recorded ten digs.

Their effort was not nearly enough to slow the Griffins, who united to hit .245 (46K-20E-106TA) and score seven aces. McBride's 10 kills came on a season-best .450 (10K-1E-20TA) hitting percentage. She also recorded seven digs. Gelfan and Koehler combined for an additional 17 kills on a .467 (17K-3E-30TA) hitting percentage, while Byxbee's eight digs were second only to nine digs from senior libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.). Sophomore setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) was a valuable contributor as well with four kills, 34 assists, two aces, and five digs.

The Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team returns to action on Friday, October 28, when they visit Georgian Court University for a 6:00 p.m. CACC match.
