McBride Scores 12 Kills as Chestnut Hill College Falls, 3-0,to Georgian Court University

Box Score Lakewood, N.J. - (10/28/2016) – Chestnut Hill College senior outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) scored 12 winners and added seven digs as the Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team dropped a pivotal Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match, 3-0 (23-25, 17-25, 13-25), to Georgian Court University on Friday night.
 
In the most tightly contested match of the night, Georgian Court University (16-14, 12-3 CACC) was able to escape the first set with a 25-23 victory over the visiting Chestnut Hill College (10-12, 8-5 CACC) Griffins. The Lions hit .414 as a team in the set (15K-3E-29TA) with the Griffins hitting .353 (16K-4E-34TA).
 
The second stanza saw the hosts emerge with the 25-17 win, using a .419 hitting percentage (15K-2E-31TA) to secure the 2-0 lead. The third set saw the Lions use stifling defense and more blistering offense, hitting .538 (15K-1E-26TA) as a team to secure the 3-0 sweep in a pivotal CACC contest.
 
McBride and freshman outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Indianapolis, Ind.) both notched 12 kills on the evening, with the duo also combining for 13 digs. Sophomore setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) led the squad with 30 assists.
 
The Lions were led by sophomore outside hitter Peggy Rosario (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico), who registered 13 kills on a .480 hitting percentage (13K-1E-25TA) and six digs. Freshman middle blocker Kathryn vonKampen (Oakdale, N.Y.) also registered double figure kills, scoring 10 winners on a .588 hitting percentage (10K-0E-17TA). Senior setter Kelsey Oliver (Scio, Ore.) led all players with 36 assists, while accumulating nine digs, one solo block and one block assist.
 
 
Chestnut Hill College will continue CACC play on Saturday, October 29, when they host Bloomfield College at 1:00 p.m.
