Goldey-Beacom College Gets The Best of Chestnut Hill College, 9-0

Box Score | Wilmington, Del. - (10/4/2016) – A day removed from the completion of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championships, the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team returned to their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) slate with an afternoon match at Goldey-Beacom College. The Lightning welcomed the Griffins some stiff competition, as the hosts swept doubles play en route to an eventual 9-0 league win. Sophomore Hannah Murphy (Christchurch, England) gave Chestnut Hill College's most-spirited effort, challenging senior Francesca Beg (Westbury, England) to a 6-2, 1-6, 12-10 final.

Goldey-Beacom College (4-0, 4-0) snared a 3-0 advantage over Chestnut Hill College (0-6, 0-6) with consecutive wins at number three (8-1), number one (8-2), and number two (8-3) doubles. The Lightning's winning ways carried over to singles play. There, freshman Nicole Yang (Blue Bell, Pa.) fell first, 6-1, 6-0, at number six singles (4-0). The host's next victories came at number five (6-2, 6-0), number four (6-0, 6-0), number one (6-1, 6-2), and number two (6-1, 6-3) singles, before Murphy slowed Beg to her match-ending win in the third individual flight.
 
The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team breaks from CACC play to join the men for a 2:00 p.m. dual match against West Chester University tomorrow, Wednesday, October 5.
