Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (11/10/2016) – In the final stretch of their 2016 regular-season schedule, the Chestnut Hill College traveled down Henry Drive for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showdown at Philadelphia University. The Lady Rams, who defeated the Griffins 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-14) less than a week ago, completed the series sweep with this evening's 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-23) triumph over the Scarlet and Gold. Senior outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) and freshman outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Indianapolis, Ind.) recorded 11 kills apiece to headline the offense, while senior libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) led four Griffins with double-digit digs.

The Chestnut Hill College (12-15, 10-8) game plan worked well early as the Griffins marched out to a 9-4 advantage with sophomore setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) locating Byxbee and senior middle hitter Emily Koehler (Bath, Pa.), among others, during a strong series of serves from junior defensive specialist Peyton Reno (Wilmington, Del.). Unfortunately, Philadelphia University (25-4, 17-1) eventually enjoyed a run of their own, recovering from a 16-11 deficit with eight straight points. The rally earned them a 19-16 advantage that endured until a 22-22 tie, before a pair of Lady Ram kills decided the set on a 27-25 final (1-0).

The second set was neck-and-neck with the Scarlet and Gold narrowly trailing Philadelphia University to another 22-22 stalemate. This time a pair of Griffin errors bookended a kill from sophomore outside hitter Courtney Wensel (Bechtelsville, Pa.), leaving the set in the home team's favor, 25-22 (2-0).

A mid-set rally earned Chestnut Hill College a 20-19 advantage in the concluding frame. But following a timeout, Philadelphia University refocused their energy and produced a five-point run that was interrupted by a Griffin timeout at 22-20, only to continue to a 24-20 advantage. A responsorial Byxbee kill gave the Griffins a glimmer of hope, 22-21, but the Scarlet and Gold rally only lasted two more points in an eventual 25-23 Lady Ram set-victory (3-0).

Wensel match Byxbee and McBride with 11 kills of her own. She did so on a .222 (11K-3E-36TA) hitting percentage that was complimented by an assist, an ace, and a team-high 24 digs. Sophomore setter Alexandra Harrington (St. Leonard, Md.) offered 35 assists in addition to three kills, two aces, 10 digs, and a block assist. The Lady Rams totaled 7.5 team blocks with junior middle hitter Corinne Justus (Allentown, Pa.) and freshman outside hitter Mariah Cadzow (Mountville, Pa.) contributing to most of them.

Sutton totaled two kills and eight digs while helping McBride and Byxbee to their double-digit kill performance with 29 assists. Byxbee added 18 assist to her offense, resulting in her third double-double of the season. Meanwhile, McBride additionally recorded 15 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. With one game remaining on Chestnut Hill College's regular-season schedule, McBride's 11 kills leaves her just two shy of Rachel Biro '16 for the Griffins' all-time career mark of 1,194 kills. Reno and Trabosh were the other two Griffins in double-digit digs; Reno hustled to 18 while Trabosh ran down 23.
