Koehler Nets 10 Kills in 3-0 Victory Over Felician University

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (9/13/2016) – Chestnut Hill College senior middle hitter Emily Koehler (Bath, Pa.) notched a match-high 10 kills to lead the Scarlet and Gold to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-18) victory over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Felician University this evening in Sorgenti Arena. Prior to the start of this evening's league and home opener, the Chestnut Hill College Department of Athletics recognized a pair of milestones as senior libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) recorded her 2,000 career dig and senior outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) scored her 1,000 career kill in a 3-1 loss to Franklin Pierce University at last weekend's Wildcat Regional Invitational.
 
The two teams battled back-and-forth in the first set, trading points until the score was 12-12. Chestnut Hill College (3-6, 1-0 CACC) found its offense, scoring nine of the next 12 points to take a convincing 21-15 edge. Felician University (0-6, 0-1 CACC) was able to cut the deficit down to four, 21-17, but it would not be enough as Chestnut Hill College was able to take command down the stretch, scoring a 25-21 first-set victory.
 
Chestnut Hill College was able to race out to an early 17-11 advantage in the second set, capped by a service ace from junior defensive specialist Peyton Reno (Wilmington, Del.). Felician University went on a run of their own, outscoring Chestnut Hill College 7-4 to cut the deficit to four, 21-17. But the Scarlet and Gold would hold on late, scoring a 25-20 victory for the 2-0 edge.
 
The third set saw the Griffins soar out to an 18-11 advantage before finishing the three-set sweep with a convincing 25-18 victory securing their first CACC win of the season. Chestnut Hill College finished the set hitting .188 (12K-6E-32TA).
 
Koehler led the way with 10 kills on a .364 hitting percentage (10K-2E-22TA). Sophomore setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) paced the squad with 27 assists while Trabosh finished with a match-high 18 digs.

Felician University was led by sophomore outside hitter Paulina Calero (El Centro, Calif.) who posted 10 kills. Freshman setter Charlotte Greek (Menifee, Calif.) and classmate Sammi Turpin (St. Petersburg, Fla.) each posted 14 assists in the defeat.
 
The Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team continues CACC play when they host Georgian Court University on Friday, September 16, at 5:00 p.m.
