Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/14/2017) – The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team ended their fall and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on a high note with this afternoon's 9-0 triumph at Holy Family University. The Griffins won the doubles flights in order and all by 8-0 finals before completing the shutout of the Tigers with convincing singles wins.
Sophomores
Barbara Broville (Toulouse, France) and
Nicola Guzowska (Poznan, Poland) were the first to score a doubles point for Chestnut Hill College (2-6, 2-6) with their win in the top team flight. Juniors,
Daniela Siqueira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and
Julia Bellon (Indaiatuba, Brazil) followed with their victory at number two doubles, before the round concluded with a number three doubles win by sophomore
Nicole Yang (Blue Bell, pa.) and junior
Laura Lupin (Danielsville, Pa.).
Singles went just as well for the Griffins, who only surrendered on five set points to Holy Family University (0-8, 0-7). Broville secured the first Scarlet and Gold point of the round with her 6-0, 6-0, win at number two singles and Bellon followed with her matching 6-0, 6-0, win at number three singles. Guzowska provided the clincher, 6-1, 6-1, at number one singles. Additional individual victories were had at number four singles by Siqueira, 6-2, 6-1, at number six singles by Lupin, 8-1, and at number five singles by Yang, 6-0, 6-1.
The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team will resume competition in the spring of 2018.
