Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/3/2017) – Defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Champion, Goldey-Beacom College served as foil to the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team in today's league match. The Lightning swept doubles play, clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1, win at number four singles, and eventually defeated the Scarlet and Gold by a 7-1 final as number one singles remained unfinished due to darkness (6-4, 5-7, unf.). Barbara Broville (Toulouse, France) was the only Griffin to pick up a point, triumphing at number three singles, 7-5, 4-6, 5.
 
Goldey-Beacom College (7-0, 6-0) emerged from doubles play with a 3-0 advantage. The claimed their first point from Chestnut Hill College (1-3, 1-3) at number three doubles, 8-1. Number one doubles then went to the Lightning by the same measure and the sweep was completed by an 8-2 final in the second team flight.
 
The Griffins hoped to recover in singles play, but Lightning points came at number six (6-1, 6-0), number four (6-0, 6-1), and number two (6-4, 6-4) before Broville was victorious at number three. Goldey-Beacom College took number five singles next, 6-4, 6-4, leaving sophomore 
Mia Covic (Novi Sad, Serbia) and freshman Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) battling into the night.
 
The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team continues their CACC schedule on Friday, October 6, when they visit Wilmington University for a 7:00 p.m. match.
