Box Score New Castle, Del. – (2/15/2017) – The University of the Sciences (USciences) scored the first 11 points of this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, gaining the necessary edge to defeat Chestnut Hill College by a 65-43 final. Sophomore guard
Liban Awl (Manassas, Va.) led three Griffins in double figures with 14 points, seven rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
The opening sequence made it a tough road to hoe for Chestnut Hill College (5-20, 2-16), who eventually cut the deficit to five points, 26-21, on a three pointer from sophomore forward
Bryant Quill (Pottstown, Pa.) at 4:58. Unfortunately, the Griffins went cold down the stretch, allowing USciences (13-14, 11-8) to separate for a 10-point, 34-24, halftime lead.
The home team gradually grew their advantage to 22 points, 65-43, by game's end, feeding off a 20-point performance from junior guard Flo Da-Silva (Moorestown, N.J.) and a pair of double-double from junior forward Will Gregorits (Burke, Va.) and sophomore forward Beni Toure (Upper Darby, Pa.). Gregorits finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and a block, while Toure totaled 10 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal off the Devil bench.
Awl was joined in double figures by juniors, guard
Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) and center
Chris Evans (Norristown, Pa.). Isaac offered 11 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals while Evans grabbed three rebounds in addition to his 10 points.
The Chestnut Hill College men's basketball team concludes their 2016-2017 schedule on Tuesday, February 21, when they host Goldey-Beacom College in an 8:00 p.m. CACC contest.
