The Lightning rallied, but as late as 7:26 the margin lingered at four points, 65-61, after a dunk from freshman guard
Nasir Bell (Philadelphia, Pa.). Soon after the Griffins lost their grip, going scoreless for the next seven minutes (0:19) in a 96-63 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) final. Bell led the Scarlet and Gold with 16 points, four rebounds, two assists, a block, and three steals.
It was Chestnut Hill College (5-21, 2-17), who initially charged out to a 9-2 lead by 15:23 of the opening half. But Goldey-Beacom College (20-6, 14-5) tied the affair at 9-9 on a three point basket from senior guard Riyan Williams (Dunkirk, Md.) at 13:45, before expanding their advantage to double digits, 22-11, midway (10:06) through the frame. The Griffins cut the Lightning lead to six points, 29-23, with junior guard
Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) connecting with Bell for a layup just past the four-minute mark (3:54). Unfortunately, Goldey-Beacom College answered with a swift 6-0 run at padded their edge, 35-23, for a 9-4 Scarlet and Gold run to halftime, 39-32. The late streak was headlined by Isaac, who worked his way to the free throw line for six points in the final 1:18 of the period.
Reenergized for the second half, Chestnut Hill College went to junior center
Chris Evans (Norristown, Pa.) for some early offense that knocked the Lightning lead to three points, 42-39, just before the 17-minute mark (17:06). Again, Goldey-Beacom College wiggled away. This time for a 13-point lead, 52-39, by 15:29. The Griffins reunited for their last hurrah just three minutes later with a pin-point pass from freshman guard

A Bell layup trimmed the deficit to just six points, 61-55, at 10:18, but it was not until 7:26 that his dunk reduced the Lightning lead to its lowest amount, 65-61, in the second half. But that is when things went array as the Griffins did not score again until 0:19, when junior forward
Andrew Conboy (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) seized the lane for the final basket in a 96-63 final.
Williams led five Lightning in double figures with 27 points, four rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Junior forward Dante Thompson (Coran, N.J.) was his second in command with 17 points, seven rebounds, a block, and three steals. Senior guard Sameen Swint (Sicklerville, N.J.) offered 16 points, four rebounds, and six assists. Sophomore guard Corey Taite (Sayreville, N.J.) and senior guard Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (New Castle, Del.) rounded out the group with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
In addition to Bell, Isaac and Awl finished in double figures. Isaac recorded 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while sophomore guard
Liban Awl (Manassas, Va.) totaled 10 points, five rebounds, and a steal.
The Chestnut Hill College men's basketball team finishes the 2016-2017 season at 5-21 overall and 2-17 in the CACC.
