Chestnut Hill College Wins Sixth Straight Men’s Match, 8-1, but Women Maligned at Millersville University, 6-3

Men's Box Score | Women's Box Score | Millersville, Pa. - (4/14/2017) – Millersville University served as the host for today's preholiday dual match as the Chestnut Hill College men's and women's tennis teams visited the Marauders for a pair of afternoon matches. Seniors, Laure-Anne Josso (Vannes, France) and Louise Charley (St. Jean de Luz, France) valiantly led the Griffins' charge in the women's match, but in the end the Marauders defeated them by a 6-3 final. The Scarlet and Gold had better luck in the men's match, where the Griffins only surrendered a point by retirement at number three singles, 8-1.
 
Millersville University (3-14) scored the first two points of the women's match, taking number the number two doubles flight, 8-2, and the number three doubles flight, 8-5. The Chestnut Hill College (0-15) resistance emerged in the number one doubles match, where Josso and Charley narrowed the gap to 2-1 with their 8-6 triumph. As play moved to singles, the score evened at 2-2 with Josso's 6-3, 6-2 win in the top individual flight. The Marauders briefly separated with a 6-4, 6-2 win at number three singles as Charley answered the point with her own at number two singles, 6-2, 7-6. The deciding point came at number four singles, where Millersville University secured a 6-0, 6-4, victory. Additional Marauders points were added to the final at number six, 6-2, 6-1, and number five singles, 6-1, 6-2, respectively.
 
The men's match was over much quicker as Chestnut Hill College (11-5) swept doubles play before winning two of the first three completed singles matches. Sophomore Victor Iove (Tournai, Belgium) and senior Pedro Oranges de Figueredo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored the first Scarlet and Gold point with their 8-0 triumph at number three doubles. The next came at two doubles, where sophomore Felix Andre (Berlin, Germany) and freshman Antoine Gautier (Eysines, France) scored an 8-2 victory. Juniors, Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) and Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) captured the third Chestnut Hill College point at number one doubles, 8-4. Millersville University's (0-16) only rebuttal was a win by retirement at number three singles as Gautier; 6-2, 6-0 at number singles, and Andre; 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles, delivered the points necessary to clinch. The three remaining singles flights finished in order with Iove winning number four singles, 6-0, 6-0, Regalin winning number five singles, 8-0, and Oranges winning number six singles, 8-1.
 
The Chestnut Hill College men's and women's tennis team continue their preholiday competition tomorrow, Saturday, April 15, with a 10:00 a.m. dual match at Villanova University.
