Dutra Leads Griffins to 4-2 Victory Over Warriors

Nyack, N.Y. - (10/13/2018) – An action packed first half catapulted Chestnut Hill College to a 4-2 victory over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Nyack College in today's contest. Junior midfielder Pedro Dutra (Passos, Brazil) led the Griffins scoring two goals in the first half that was accompanied by a goal from senior forward Jason Doherty (Letterkenny, Ireland ) as well (3-1). In the second half, sophomore forward Miguel Marra (Ossining, N.Y) recorded the final comfort goal that sealed the Griffin's victory. Junior goalkeeper Frank Maniscalco (Philadelphia, Pa.) took the win with an eight save performance.

Nyack College (0-8, 1-12) logged the first goal of the afternoon (7:33, 0-1), but under seven minutes (14:17) later Dutra responded deadlocking the match 1-1. Chestnut Hill College (5-5, 6-8) took the advantage at 15:07, after aggressively attacking the net, Doherty punished the Warriors with a successful penalty kick, 2-1. The Griffins continued to capitalize on their momentum and at 18:59, Dutra recorded his second goal of the match, giving his squad a comfortable 3-1 lead. Nyack College mustered up a second goal at 36:34 attempting to close the gap before the half, ending the first period 3-2. The second period was less exciting, but Chestnut Hill College was able to keep Nyack College scoreless.  The Griffins were not done yet, in the last 15 seconds of the affair Marra recorded their fourth goal finalizing the 4-2 win.

Freshman midfielder Javier Fernandez (Villaviciosa de Odon, Spain) (3 shots) and sophomore forward Mitchell Reed (Toms River, N.J.) (2 shots) both recorded one goal each, leading Nyack College. Senior midfielder Nicholas Scarafile (Brampton, Canada) and junior midfieler Vitor Cositorto (Niteroi, Brazil) logged one assist each, while junior goalkeeper Alvaro Magel (Hamburg, Germany) and freshman Pedro Santolaya (Madrid, Spain) shared the net giving a four and two saves performance respectively
 
On top of Dutra's two goals, he also added on one assist to his total leading Chestnut Hill College, while Doherty (4 shots) and Marra (1 shot) gave one goal each. Freshman forward David Cortez (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) and junior midfielder Mo Ehmer (Surrey, England) each chipped in one shot attempt. Maniscalco took the win (2-3) with his eight saves.

Chestnut Hill College continue their CACC schedule on Tuesday, October 16, at Jefferson for a 3:00 p.m. matchup.
