Chestnut Hill College Collects First Win With CACC Shutout at Caldwell University
Box Score | Caldwell, N.J. - (10/2/2018) – Chestnut Hill College got in the win column this evening as they overpowered Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival, Caldwell University by a 7-0 measure. The Griffins handled the Cougars in doubles play, sweeping the round for the first point of the match. Their success continued in singles play, where - in the process of completing the shutout – they barely allowed the home team a set-point.

Gianna Vassalluzzo (Newtown, Pa.) and sophomore
Mariana Sanchez (Trenton, N.J.) led off the Chestnut Hill College (1-2, 1-2) success with their 6-2 win at number three doubles. Number two doubles was the next to conclude as seniors,
Julia Bellon (Indaiatuba, Brazil) and
Daniela Siqueira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) defeated their Caldwell University (0-5, 0-4) counterparts by a 6-1 final. With the point already in hand, the Scarlet and Gold completed their doubles sweep with a 6-2 number one doubles win from juniors
, Mia Covic (Novi Sad, Serbia) and
Barbara Broville (Toulouse, France).
In singles, Bellon secured the second Griffin point with her 6-0, 6-1, win in the third flight. Covic added the third with her 6-0, 6-0, win at number one singles. And soon after, Broville delivered the clincher with her 6-1, 6-1, win at number two singles.
