Griffins Drop To Bears In Final Regular Season Matchup

Old Westbury, N.Y. - (10/25/2018) - Chestnut Hill College traveled to New York to face the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in today's final regular season contest. Unfortunately, the Griffins trip did not end well, falling to the Bears who posted a 20-5 shooting advantage, resulting in the 5-0 loss. 

The New York Institute of Technology (8-6-1) started their run early scoring thirty-seconds into the first half, off of a rebounded attack, 1-0. Under three-minutes (4:55) later, the Bears tallied another goal extending their edge to 2-0. Chestnut Hill College ( 7-11-1) started to warmup offensively creating five opportunities to avoid leaving the field scoreless, but they were unable to convert.  NYIT did not let up on pressuring the Scarlet and Gold, adding three more goals by the end of the affair (5-0, 49:05, 59:18, 86:27).

Graduate-student forward Bernd Schluter (Everswinkel, Germany) produced a hat trick (9 shots) in today's 5-0 victory, leading the New York Institute of Technology.  Senior midfielder Martin Sundell (Enebyberg, Stockholm, Sweden) (3 shots) and senior midfielder Joseph Soussan (Mulhouse, France) (2 shots) both scored one goal each, while sophomore defender Xavi Senlik (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) (1 shot) and freshman midfielder John Gamble (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) recorded this contest's assists. Freshman goalkeeper Pol Zapata (Rubi, Barcelona, Spain) collected two saves.

Senior midfielder Tyler Johnson (Howell, N.J.) (2), sophomore freshman Miguel Marra (Ossining, N.Y.) (1), junior defender Andrew Johnstone (Liverpool, England) (1 shot), and freshman midfielder David Cortez (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) recorded shots for Chestnut Hill College. Sophomore goalkeeper Sergio Hernandez (Ossinging, N.Y.) made five saves.
