Shippensburg, Pa. – (11/27/2018) – Chestnut Hill College gave a valiant effort in this evening's 91-69 loss at Shippensburg University behind senior guard
Liban Awl (Manassas, Va.), who scored a season-high 15 points with a pair of three point baskets (2-of-8, .250) in a 6-of-13 (.462) shooting performance. The Raiders gradually increased their lead to 22 points, 40-18 (4:30), before entering the locker room with an 18-point, 45-27, advantage; the second half saw the deficit reach 27 points on several occasions only to return to 22 points at the final buzzer.
Shippensburg University (6-0) scored the first 11 points of the contest (11-0, 17:42) and later owned an 18-point halftime advantage, 45-27, thanks to eight Griffin turnovers and a superior shooting effort (40.6%-34.4%). Awl scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half to help Chestnut Hill College (2-4) keep up, later it was freshman guard

Tony Toplyn Jr. (Sicklerville, N.J.) later reduced the different to 18 points (59-41, 12:15), unfortunately, a Raider resurgence reestablished their advantage to 27 points, 68-41, midway through the frame (10:04) and kept the Scarlet and Gold at bay in a 91-69 end.
Six Raiders finished in double figures; junior forward John Castello (Mars, Pa.) and junior guard Daylon Carter (Pittsburgh, Pa.) were the highest among them with 15 points apiece. Castello added nine rebounds and two assists to his scoring, while Carter additionally recorded five rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Sophomore guard Jake Bliss (Latrobe, Pa.) was a factor as well with 10 points, a rebound, and five assists.
Bailey (9 points), White (8), and Letterlough (6) scored all their points in the second half; the last also provided a team-high six rebounds, a block, and a steal to help freshman guard
Trevonn Pitts (Wyncote, Pa.) headline the Chestnut Hill College defense. Pitts offered four blocks and a steal in addition to four rebounds, three were on the defensive end.
Chestnut Hill College returns to Sorgenti Arena on Saturday, December 1, when they host the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) in a 3:00 p.m. contest.
