#2 Dolphins Spoil Chestnut Hill College Season Opener with 19-4 Spread

Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (2/24/2018) – Chestnut Hill College welcomed #2 Le Moyne College to the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium for today's season opener. Unfortunately, the Dolphins exceled in the wet weather, defeating the Griffins by a 19-4 spread. Senior midfielder Joshua Pope (Schnecksville, Pa.) scored the Scarlet and Gold's first goal and located senior attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.) for both of his. Sophomore attack Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) provided the fourth Griffin goal and senior Matthew Pedrick (New Milford, N.J.) (0-1) made nine saves while playing a majority of minutes in goal.
 
Le Moyne College (2-0) wasted little time getting into their offense, scoring the contest's first two goals in the opening minutes (13:54 and 11:13). They pushed their lead to 3-0 (6:49), before Pope netted the first Chestnut Hill College (0-1) goal of 2018 at 5:11 (3-1). Unfortunately, another three-goal Dolphin run pushed the visitor's lead to 6-1 by the first-quarter break. A 5-0 Le Moyne second quarter made it 12-1 by halftime, rendering second half scores from Klusartiz (10:07 3QTR, 11:55 4QTR) and Wilden to no avail.
 
Senior attack Justin Kesselring (Fairport, N.Y.) led Le Moyne College with a pair of goals and five assists. He also record two ground balls. Freshman attacks, Devin Andrews (Canandaigua, N.Y.) and Ben McCreary (Cicero, N.Y.) were also factors; the former offered two goals, three assists, and two ground balls, while the latter totaled also caused a turnover. In goal, senior Jack Sweeney (Syracuse, N.Y.) (2-0) made one save during the first half (30:00), but senior Bryan Schenk (Clay, N.Y.) made a majority of the Dolphins saves (4) in the final 9:33.
 
For Chestnut Hill College, Pope added five ground balls to his three-point performance, Klusaritz grabbed a ground ball in addition to his two tallies, and Pedrick corralled four ground balls while tending the Griffin goal. Sophomore Blake Turner (Tampa, Florida) won 10-of-19 (.526) faceoffs and recovered four ground balls.
 
The Chestnut Hill College men's Lacrosse team continues their schedule on Saturday, March 3, when they visit Mercy College for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
