Lakewood, N.J. – (9/12/2018) – Chestnut Hill College continued their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule today, Wednesday, September 12, with an afternoon contest at Georgian Court University (GCU). There, the Lions used a 30-6 shot advantage to double up the Griffins in a 4-2 final. Both Scarlet and Gold tallies came in the second half as junior forward
Nicole Cahill (Glendora, N.J.) one timed a ricocheted off a GCU defender at 61:11 (2-1) and sophomore
Gabby Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) buried a 35-yard strike to the upper right corner of the goal at 85:59 (4-2).
GCU (3-2, 2-0) seized the advantage early in the contest as senior forward Heather Arbachesky (Wall, N.J.) located freshman defender Marin Kulenguski (Annandale, Va.) for a strike from the top of the circle at 2:06 (1-0). The Lions kept the pressure on Chestnut Hill College (2-2, 1-1) with a 15-3 first half shooting edge. The effort paid off again at 18:53, when Arbachesky finished a feed from freshman forward Krystal Hund (Toms River, N.J.) with one touch, 2-0.
The Lions outshot the Griffins 15-3 in the second half as well, but this time the Scarlet and Gold cashed in on their sparse opportunities first. At 61:11, Cahill settled a deflected a ball, which she promptly struck past the GCU goalkeeper, 2-1. Unfortunately, the Lions answered just seven minutes (68:04) later as freshman defender Brianna Hills (Long Branch, N.J.) connected with junior midfielder Anissia Fucci (Manchester, N.J.) on a lead pass that reestablished two-goal spread at 3-1. At 74:55, GCU pushed their lead to 4-1 on an own-rebound goal from senior forward Shannon Kelly (Point Pleasant, N.J.), rendering Fanfarillo's tally as too little too in a 4-2 final.
Fucci led the Lions with five shots. Arbachesky offered four strikes, while seven others recorded two shots or more. Junior goalkeeper Natalie Axelsson (Galloway, N.J.) made three saves in the win (2-2).
Fanfarillo was the Griffins' leading shooter with three attempts. Freshman forward
Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) added two shots, while Cahill scored on her only offering. In goal, junior
Leah Peshkin (Haddon Heights, N.J.) played a majority of the minutes (71:51) and made six of Chestnut Hill College's 11 saves.
Chestnut Hill College returns home to host Concordia College (NY) in a 1:00 p.m. CACC contest at Victory Field #1 on Saturday, September 15.
