Keyon Butler (Chester, Pa.) served as the silver lining for Chestnut Hill College as Goldey-Beacom College claimed an 80-51 victory in this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. The double-double performance was Butler's second of the season and featured a season-high six offensive boards. Tonight's affair served as the backdrop for the Griffins' CACC Mental Health Awareness Day, a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) inspired initiative that aims to encourage students, faculty, and staff members to answer the call, speak up, and help spread awareness about this social issue.

After nearly three minutes of scoreless play, senior forward
Tony Toplyn Jr. (Sicklerville, N.J.) gave Chestnut Hill College (3-16, 0-10) the initial lead of the affair with a the contest's first basket, 2-0 (17:31). But Goldey-Beacom College (9-11, 7-4) soon established their superiority as a series of Lightning three pointers ignited a 20-6 run that put the visitors up 20-8 just past the 11-minute mark (10:51). Behind a 16-point first half from senior guard Mahir Johnson (Chester, Pa.), Goldey-Beacom College gradually increased their advantage to 21 points, 40-19 (2:37) late in the opening period; the deficit remained there, 42-21 (0:19), for halftime thanks to a closing basket from Johnson.
In the second half the Lightning advantage remained above 20 points until Butler completed a feed from freshman forward
Amir Warrick (Washington, DC) at 10:24, 55-36. Unfortunately, the Scarlet and Gold trend did not continue as Goldey-Beacom College reasserted themselves in the closing minutes, pushing their prime position to 30 points, 77-47, at 2:16 and concluding the contest on a 29-point, 80-51 (0:49), difference.

Johnson finished with a game-high 27 points, hitting 9-of-16 (.563) from the floor, 4-of-5 (.800) from three point range, and additionally, 5-of-6 (.833) from the free throw line. He also provided Goldey-Beacom College with eight rebounds and a steal. Three other Lightning finished in double figures, including senior guard Corey Taite (Sayreville, N.J.) (20 points), senior guard Troy Stancil (12), and sophomore guard Kyle Elliot (Rahway, N.J.) (10). Elliot additionally supplied a team-high seven assists. Freshman guard Giovanni Jones (Norfolk, Va.) grabbed 14 of the Lightning's 38 rebounds.

Roman Letterlough (Harrisburg, Pa.), who offered eight points, four rebounds, an assist, and a block.
