Waterbury, Conn. - (10/12/2019) – Chestnut Hill College visited Post University today, Saturday, October 12, for a late-morning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. The Eagles controlled most of the action, outshooting the Griffins 19-4 in pursuit of a 2-0 league win. The Scarlet and Gold's shot were split one apiece between sophomore forward
Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.), senior forward
Geena DiRugeris (Woodbury, N.J.), freshman forward
Riley Regan (Philadelphia, Pa.) and senior forward
Nicole Cahill (Glendora, N.J.).
Early pressure earned Post University (5-3-2, 5-1-0) a 1-0 advantage just 12:29 after the opening kickoff. Following the tally, Chestnut Hill College (2-9, 0-6) stemmed the tide, funneling the Eagles' advances to the awaiting arms of junior goalkeeper
Paris Banks (Philadelphia, Pa.). Banks stopped six shots in the opening frame to keep the halftime margin at a single score. But intermission, Post University added insurance, extending their position to 2-0 with a second unassisted score at 65:28. The Griffins gave a spirited rally over the remaining 24:32, but it only produced a Cahill strike that sailed wide at 75:11.
Freshman forward Hailey McGee (Jackson, N.J.) led Post University with 10 shots and the game-winning goal (1-0, 12:29). Junior defender Sydney Rutherford (Ontario, Canada) offered the Eagles' second half score (2-0, 65:28). Junior goalkeeper Tayleur Little (Mandeville, Jamaica) (88:00) made one save and earned the win (5-3-1) for the Eagles.
Banks (0-4) made seven saves in a losing effort for Chestnut Hill College.
