Chestnut Hill College Drops Matchup with Georgian Court University

Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (10/15/2019) – Chestnut Hill College fell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Tuesday night against Georgian Court University, 4-1. The Lions used a strong first half, scoring the first three goals to run away from the Griffins and stay near the top of the conference standings.

Georgian Court University (7-4-1, 5-1) struck in the eighth minute after freshman midfielder Aliya Canfield (Beachwood, N.J.) finished off a ball from the left flank with a one-time finish to make it 1-0. Canfield would then assist on a goal from sophomore forward Krystal Hund (Toms River, N.J.) in the 28th minute, before freshman forward Kieran Lees (Medford, N.J.) added a third in the opening period. The Griffins (2-10, 0-7) got one back before the break on a senior forward Nicole Cahill (Glendora, N.J.) cross that was headed home by junior forward Gab Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.). That was the lone tally from Chestnut Hill College, as junior midfielder Erin Wimmer (Sayreville, N.J.) was able to re-extend the lead to three in the 68th minute to cap off the Lions' 4-1 win.

The Lions posted nine names on the scoresheet, with five earning assists on four goals from different scorers. In total Georgian Court University tallied 25 shots and 14 of those efforts were on goal. Hund and Wimmer led the team in shots, with Wimmer putting a game-high three shots on goal.

The Griffins were led in goal by junior Paris Banks (Philadelphia, Pa.), who recorded 10 saves against the Lions. The effort was the fourth time in the last five starts that she posted double-digit saves. Chestnut Hill College posted seven shots in the loss, led by two shots each from sophomore forward Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) and senior midfielder Sabrina Shinkowitz (Stratford, N.J.).
