Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) served as the hero as she scored the game-winner of a 2-1 final a 1:33 into the second overtime. Chestnut Hill College originally trailed Bloomfield College as the Bears scored the initial goal of the contest just 22:58 after the opening kickoff. The Griffins evened the playing field a little less than 16 minutes later (1-1, 38:42) with the first collegiate goal of senior defender
Elizabeth McCormick (Philadelphia, Pa.), but were not able to capitalize on their infrequent opportunities until Jimenez netted a centering pass from sophomore midfielder
Madison Taylor (Bensalem, Pa.) at 101:33.
Bloomfield College (0-12-1, 0-7-1) outshot Chestnut Hill College (3-10, 1-7) 23-8 in the affair and reaped the benefits with the contest's first tally; 1-0 (22:58). But the Griffins made the most of their eight shots, scoring on their third and the last shot of the contest en route to the CACC prize. McCormick recorded the first Scarlet and Gold goal, completing a pass from senior forward
Nicole Cahill (Glendora, N.J.) at 38:42; 1-1. The ensuing stalemate would last 63 minutes with the Bears continuously testing junior goalkeeper
Paris Banks (Philadelphia, Pa.). She made one save before halftime, seven saves in the second half, and two more in the first overtime, keeping Bloomfield College unsatisfied prior to Jimenez's game-winner.
Sophomore forward Victoria Napolitano (Garwood, N.J.) recorded the Bears lone goal, ending a feed from junior midfielder Emily Quiroz (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) at 22:58. She also recorded six a team-high six shots for Bloomfield College. Freshman goalkeeper Mia Phillip (Bridgewater, N.J.) made three saves in the loss.
Jimenez recorded six of the Griffins' eight shots; McCormick and junior forward
Gab Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) were responsible for the other two. In goal, Banks recorded 14 saves in her first win (1-4) of the season.
Chestnut Hill College returns to Victory Field #1 on Wednesday, October 23, to host Wilmington University in a 7:00 p.m. CACC contest.
