Bloomfield, N.J. - (10/19/2019) – For a third straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, Chestnut Hill College battled into a second overtime period. And for second straight league contest, the Griffins settled for a scoreless tie as today's CACC affair at Bloomfield College ended in a 110-minute, 0-0 tie. Five members of the Scarlet and Gold took multiple shots, but junior forward
Miguel Marra (Ossining, N.Y.) and senior midfielder
Pedro Dutra (Passos, Brazil) led the pride with three shots apiece. Senior goalkeeper
Frank Maniscalco (Philadelphia, Pa.) preserved his side of the field with five saves over the four frames.
Chestnut Hill College (3-5-3, 2-3-2) owned a slight 11-10 shooting advantage at the end of regulation thanks to a seven-shot second half that included a series of early Scarlet and gold shots, but the evenly played league affair went to overtime without a tally on the scoreboard. Each side recorded a shot in the first overtime. In the second, the Griffins put the pressure on Bloomfield College (3-8-1, 2-5-1) owning a 4-1 shooting edge that included a quality Dutra opportunity. But like Maniscalco, sophomore goalkeeper Robert Kornel (Berlin, Germany) kept a clean sheet with five saves for the Bears. Junior Quincy Baal (Rotterdam, Netherlands) led Bloomfield College with four of their 12 shots.
Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule on Tuesday, October 22, when they welcome Wilmington University to Victory Field #1 for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
