Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (10/23/2019) – Chestnut Hill College could not keep up with Wilmington University in a 3-0 loss on Wednesday night. The Wildcats scored two goals in the first 20 minutes and capped the night off with a third score in the second half of their shutout win over the Griffins.
The Griffins (3-11, 1-8) fell behind in the 11th minute after junior midfielder Kasie Lambert (Sparrows Point, Md.) buried the opening goal. Junior midfielder Jessica Unsihuay (Newark, Del.) doubled the lead eight minutes later with a lob over the goalkeeper. Freshman midfielder Samantha Emmi (Logan Township, N.J.) put the game away in the 67th minute after finishing off a cross from Lambert to complete the 3-0 Wildcats win.
Wilmington University (5-8-1, 4-4-1) was powered by sophomore goalkeeper Emily Camp (Pittsgrove, N.J.), who made four saves to record her fifth shutout of the season. The Wildcats took 16 shots, seven of which were on goal. Lambert led the team with three shots, all of which were on target.
Junior Paris Banks (Philadelphia, Pa.) got the start in goal for the Griffins, making four saves. Chestnut Hill College tallied six shots against the Wildcats. Sophomore forward Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) led the team with two shots, putting both attempts on goal.
The Griffins return to action for Senior Day at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 26 against Dominican College.
