Second Half Powers Rams Past Griffins

Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (10/2/2019) – Chestnut Hill College fell in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup on Wednesday night against Jefferson, 2-1. The Griffins struck early in the first half, but a pair of second-half goals from the Rams' captains handed them their first victory of the season.

Sophomore midfielder Mustaf Nuredini (Norristown, Pa.) combined on a give-and-go with senior midfielder Pedro Dutra (Passos, Brazil) to slip in behind and score in the fourth minute for the Griffins (3-3-1, 2-2). Despite being on the back foot in the first half, Jefferson (1-6-1, 1-2) found its groove in the second, outshooting Chestnut Hill College 10-2 in the period. Senior midfielder Charlie Livesey (Sandbach, United Kingdom) equalized in the 75th minute for the Rams on a bending effort into the side netting from the right flank. Livesey would set up the game-winning goal two minutes later, serving in a corner kick that was headed home by junior defender Val Mokrejs (Elverson, Pa.).

The Rams managed to put seven of their 13 shots on frame against the Griffins. Livesey led the team on that front, putting three of his four shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Kris Donaldson recorded a save in his first win in goal since finishing 6-6-1 last season for Jefferson.

Dutra and Nuredini led Chestnut Hill College in shots, posting three and two attempts, respectively. The two midfielders also accounted for the team's two shots on goal. Making his second appearance of the season, junior goalkeeper Sergio Hernandez (Ossining, N.Y.) made five stops against the Rams.

The Griffins head to Bronxville, N.Y. to face Concordia College in CACC action at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.
