Griffins Drop Senior Day Contest to Chargers

Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (10/26/2019) – Chestnut Hill College hosted senior day on Saturday against Dominican College. The Chargers scored rallied to put away the Griffins with a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win. 

Sophomore defender Bailey Cummings (Clarkstown, N.Y.) ripped a shot from the top of the box that snuck into the net to give Dominican College (4-8-3, 2-4-3) the opening goal in the 18th minute. Freshman forward Victoria Bonner (Kings Park, N.Y.), who assisted on the first goal, fired a cross  from the right flank that went towards goal and managed its way into the back post side netting to make it 2-0, Chargers over the Griffins (3-12, 1-9) in the 51st minute. Dominican College put the game away with a penalty kick goal from sophomore midfielder Abby Montera (New City, N.Y.) in the 60th minute to complete the 3-0 final. 

The Chargers had two players, Bonner and Montera, who both scored and assisted on goals. The team fired 13 shots in the game. It was led in the category by sophomore forward Megan Geary (Campbell Hall, N.Y), who took three shots and put one on frame. 

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Ianniciello (Milton, Ontario) got the start in net for the Griffins, making six saves in the full 90-minute outing. Chestnut Hill College took eight shots, three of which were on goal. Senior defender Geena DiRugeris (Woodbury, N.J.) led the team with two shots, putting one of those efforts on target. 

The Griffins host their last home game of the season at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30 against non-conference opponent Molloy College.
