Chestnut Hill College Falls on Senior Day to Dominican College

Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (10/26/2019) – Chestnut Hill College lost a hard-fought senior day contest to Dominican College, 2-0, on Saturday at Victory Field #1. The Chargers (6-9, 4-5) used two second half goals to get passed the Griffins (3-7-3, 2-5-2) in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest.

The two teams played a back-and-forth first half, with both Chestnut Hill College senior goalkeeper Frank Maniscalco (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Dominican College senior goalkeeper Tyler Doll (St. Louis, Mo.) coming up with two saves in the first half.

Despite Griffin free kick efforts from senior midfielder Pedro Dutra (Passos, Brazil) and senior defender Paris Bruhn (Horst Holstein, Germany), it would be the Chargers who found the back of the net first. Sophomore midfielder Antonio Zhu Sanchez (Alfafar Valencia, Spain) played a through ball down the left flank that sophomore midfielder Maximino Casares Martinez (Ciudad De Panama, Panama) tracked down and centered to junior midfielder Jean Paul Lyons (Toronto, Ontario), who scored in the 75th minute. The Chargers scored a second goal less than two minutes later off the boot of sophomore forward Ewan Gray (Middlesbrough, England) to cap off the team's 2-0 win.

The Chargers took 16 shots in the game, four of which were on goal. The team was led by Casares Martinez, who took six of those shots. Doll played the full 90 minutes in goal, moving back to .500 on the season after securing his fifth win.

Chestnut Hill College had five different players take their eight shots in the game. Dutra, Bruhn and sophomore midfielder Mustaf Nuredini (Norristown, Pa.) led the team with two shots each.

The Griffins return to action on the road at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30 against Roberts Wesleyan College.
