Lyndhurst, N.J. - (11/2/2019) – Junior forward
Miguel Marra (Ossining, N.Y.) continued his recent success with the game-winner in today's 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory at Felician University. Chestnut Hill College was first on the scoreboard, with a header from senior midfielder
Mo Ehmer (Staines, England) giving the Griffins a 1-0 advantage 32:16 after kickoff. Marra's tally came a little more than 20 minutes later (2-0, 52:52) and provided enough insurance for the Scarlet and Gold to collect their third CACC win of the season. Senior defenseman
Paris Bruhn (Horst Holstein, Germany) led statistically with three points, setting up Ehmer's header and later adding one of his own as the Griffins' third tally.
Chestnut Hill College (4-8-3, 3-5-2) capitalized on their limited first-half chances as Ehmer's header came on the fourth of four Griffin shots in the opening frame (1-0, 32:16). Meanwhile, Felician University (3-13, 2-9) had nine chances, but was able to break the Scarlet and Gold defense. Early in the second half, Marra benefitted from a Golden Falcon miscue, collecting the ball off a turnover and striking it goal at 52:52 (2-0) for his third tally of the season and second in as any games. Felician University played desperately following the goal and managed to draw a penalty kick at 61:43; sophomore forward Leo Yang (Seoul, South Korea) converted the opportunity to reduce the margin to a single score, 2-1. With the momentum in hand the Golden Falcons looked to tie the affair, fortunately the Chestnut Hill College defense and senior goalkeeper
Frank Maniscalco (Philadelphia, Pa.) managed to thwart their advances, denying a series of strikes before Bruhn headed a serve from sophomore midfielder
Mustaf Nuredini (Norristown, Pa.) to the back of the Felician University goal at 72:16 (3-1).
Yang recorded the Golden Falcons' only goal, but senior forward Chris McLaughlin (Hollis, N.Y.) took a majority of the Felician University shots with seven attempts on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Alex Ficarra (Phillipsburg, N.J.) recorded four saves in the loss.
Marra was busy up front, taking six shots as the main target of the Scarlet and Gold attack. Bruhn (3 shots), Ehmer (1), freshmen
Luciano Torres (Tucuman, Argentina) (1) and
Cesar May Casteneda (Exton, Pa.) (1), and senior defenseman
Connor Bethel (Hartsville, Pa.) (1) were responsible for the other four. Maniscalco made seven saves in the win (4-5-3).
Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule on Tuesday, November 5, when they visit Holy Family University for a 2:00 p.m. match.
