Griffins’ Season Concludes with Loss to Devils, Wildgoose Records 1,500th Career Point

Philadelphia, Pa. – (3/2/2019) – Chestnut Hill College concluded their 2018-2019 season with this afternoon's 84-54 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss at the University of the Sciences (USciences). The Devils hit 16-of-38 (.421) from three point territory and took advantage of 21 Griffin turnovers to secure the 30-point victory. Senior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Franklin Township, N.J.) led the Scarlet and Gold with 15 points, including the 1,500 of her collegiate career, which she recorded on an and-one bucket with 1:47 (50-24) remaining in the second quarter.

USciences (27-1, 18-1) steadily grew their lead over Chestnut Hill College (9-17, 7-11) during the first quarter, using a series of three point baskets to enter the period break with a 25-14 advantage. In the second quarter, six straight points from sophomore guard Irisa Ye (North Wales, Pa.) and a three pointer from junior guard Jordan Vitelli (Warrington, Pa.) quickly extended the Devils' lead to 20 points, 34-14 (7:35). The deficit reached 30 points, 50-20, on another USciences three pointer at 2:51, but was reduced to 27 points, 52-25, for halftime thanks to a layup (50-22, 22:37) and the historic and-one (50-25, 1:40) effort from Wildgoose.

After intermission, the Devils returned their advantage to plus-30 points, 58-27, with a three pointer from senior guard Alex Thomas (Hockessin, Del.) at 6:52 and later pushed it to 40 points, 73-33, by the end of the third quarter thanks to a pair of last-second (0:02) Ye free throws. The USciences advantage hovered around 40 points for most of the fourth quarter and was only cut to 30 points, 84-54, in the closing minutes because of fleeting efforts of the Scarlet and Gold freshmen.

Ye finished with a game-high 18 points, leading USciences with a 5-of-10 (.500) shooting effort that included three, three pointers (3-of-6, .500), and came with five (5-of-6, .833) converted free throws. She also recorded three rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Thomas was only other Devil in double digits, totaling 10 points in excess of five rebounds and four assists.

With her team-high 15 points, Wildgoose finished her collegiate career with an all-time, program-best of 1,503 points. She was 6-of-14 (.429) from the floor and 3-of-5 (.600) from the line while grabbing a team-high six rebounds and making a steal. Graduate guard Brianna Cullen (Lansdale, Pa.) joined her in double figures with 10 points. She also recorded an assist.

Chestnut Hill College closes the 2018-2019 season with a 9-17 overall record and a 7-11 standing in the CACC.
