Norristown, Pa. – (4/25/2019) – Chestnut Hill College captured an 8-4 game one win in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest against Goldey-Beacom College, but could not repeat in the second game, 2-10.  A big four run sixth inning separated the Griffins from the Lightening to solidify the first win. Unfortunately, the visitors returned the favor and stumped the Scarlet and Gold in the second inning with seven runs, taking the second game.

Eric Small (Downingtown, Pa.), pitcher 
Matthew Kress (Lansdale, Pa.), catcher 
Eric Gilham (Deptford, N.J.), outfielder 
Franklin Ramirez (Reading, Pa.), and pitcher 
Dino Cattai (Philadelphia, Pa.), in a senior day celebration at the doubleheaders break.
 
In the first inning of game one, Chestnut Hill College held the 2-1 edge over Goldey-Beacom College (14-32, 12-17 CACC) thanks to runs from sophomore outfielder 
John Contoudis (Jenkintown, Pa.) and sophomore outfielder 
Michael Perugini (Tamarac, Fla.) backed by a Gilham single up the middle.
With not much room to breathe, the Griffins posted four runs in the sixth inning, 6-3, and then continued to chip away until the 8-4 final.
 
Goldey-Beacom College came back with a vengeance as they posted seven runs at the second inning after already scoring twice in the previous period, 0-9. This hurt the Griffins tremendously and they could only post two runs in the fourth to counter the attack 2-9. The Lightening tacked on one more run to end the match 2-10.

Will Shaffer (Sicklerville, Pa.) recorded five hits, four balls, and five strikeouts.
The Griffins continue their CACC schedule on Sunday, April 28, as they travel to Orangeburg, N.Y. to face Dominican College in a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
