Wilmington, Del. - (9/26/2019) – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season continued today, Thursday, September 26, for Chestnut Hill College, who visited Goldey-Beacom College for this afternoon's league contest. The Lightning put the first three tallies (0:20, 12:35, 48:24) on the scoreboard, leading the Griffins to a 2-0 halftime score and briefly holding a 3-0 lead before senior forward
Nicole Cahill (Glendora, N.J.) found senior defender
Geena DiRugeris (Woodbury, N.J.) on a corner restart at 54:09 (3-1). Unfortunately, the Griffin goal was not enough to derail the Lightning, who eventually earned a 7-1 league-win.
Goldey-Beacom College (1-2-2, 1-0-1) controlled the contest, outshooting Chestnut Hill College (2-3, 0-2) 14-4 in the first half and 15-3 in the second half. The Lighting's early pressure had an immediate effect as it took only 20 seconds for junior forward Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) to successfully cross the ball for a one-touch tally from junior forward Ali Henriquez (Jersey City, N.J.) (1-0, 0:20). The Lightning added to their lead at 12:35 (2-0) and took their 2-0 lead to intermission. After halftime, they extended their advantage to 3-0 (48:24) before Cahill connected with DiRugeris on a Griffin corner (3-1, 54:09). Unfortunately, that is as close as the contest would get with Goldey-Beacom College padding their lead at 66:21, 83:57, 84:55, and 87:52; 7-1.
Senior midfielder Jenna Fannon (Newark, Del.) scored three of Goldey-Beacom College's goals on seven shots. Kristoffersen scored two goals in addition to her assist on the Lightning's initial tally. Henriquez finished with four points, adding a pair of assists to her early score. Freshman goalkeeper Noel Talbot (Marriottsville, Md.) made one save in the win (1-2-2).
DiRugeris and sophomore forward
Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) each recorded three shots, while the other Chestnut Hill College attempt came off the foot of freshman forward
Riley Regan (Philadelphia, Pa.). Junior goalkeeper
Amanda Ianniciello (Milton, Ontario) recorded 11 saves in the loss (2-3).
Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule on Saturday, September 28, when they host Caldwell University in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
